QÂ Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â What are the benefits of having a Coach?
A.         I could answer the question by asking another question. ‘Why do top atheletes, footballers, rugby players etc have coaches?’ Simply because they know that with a coach they can achieve their goals and much quicker than if they did it on their own. None of us can every see the ‘full picture’ on our own. A coach can look in from the ‘outside’. A coach can encourage, support and motivate. A coach is able to’ bring out’ the best in individuals, partnerships and teams.
Q.      As a Coach are you able to get me everything I want in my life?
A.       No! But my coaching can help you to review every area of your life, BECOME the person you want to BE, so that you can DO what you want to DO and HAVE what you NEED for your best possible life. I work with the belief that you already have every ‘tool’ and all the expertise you need to have your best possible life… my role is to help you discover that.
Q.       If being successful in my business is to simply set some goals, take the action and review my results then what is the point of employing a coach.
A.      Yes, you could do all that and be very successful. But, that rarely happens. There are many other factors that come into the equation. Many of my clients, before engaging my services. found it difficult to decide what the next area of focus should be. They may have had a major decision to make but had no-one to ‘bounce’ it off. They may have had ‘people-management’ issues to deal with where my experience proved invaluable. Running a business or holding a Company Director position can prove to be a very lonely existence. A coach can be an encourager, a supporter, a confidant, friend, and ally.
Q. What if I have a coaching session every two months instead of one a week?
A. It is a matter of how quickly you want to progress. By condensing the process you gain maximum impact. My ‘horse-riding’ coach once told me that it would be better if I had two lessons a week for three weeks than one a month for six months.Same number of lessons but a more focussed, concentrated time. After the initial series of sessions my clients may then have one session a month, one every three months, one every six months or end their coaching altogether.
Q. I am really confused about what the differences are between counsellors, trainers, mentors and coaches. How can you put it very simply for me to grasp the differences?
A. Ok. Lets look at it this way. Lets consider each service from the point of view of driving a car.
- A counsellor will talk to you about what you did when you drove the car sometime in the past
- A trainer will teach you how to drive the car
- A mentor will give you tips about how he became successful at driving a car
- A coach sits next to you while you drive and give you support and encouragement.
I hope that helps.

Q. There are many coaches out there. Why, Sam, should I choose you in front of the others?
A. You are right . There are other coaches to choose from, and the numbers are growing by the day. As more and more people realise the benefits of coaching the demand is increasing. Why is this? There are a number reasons which include the following:-
a. People tell me that no-one else truly wants to share their hopes, dreams and aspirations.
b. They say that no-one really listens to them.
c. People are often jealous of their success and desire to do better.
d. Other people want to dictate what they should do
e. It seems to many to be a very lonely existance out there. Especially in the business world.
f. If they were to tell their friends, or nearest and dearest, of their dreams they would be ridiculed.
g.They need at times to feel a sense of accountability in order to get where they want to be.
Why choose me then?
All I can say is that I am a fully qualified coach and member of The Coaching Academy. Not everyone who is coaching today has received formal training and qualification. Also because of my life’s experiences I have a passion that everyone gets at least the opportunity to lead their best possible lives. For the Business Development Coaching that I do I bring into play over 30 years of Management, Training and Development, Coaching, and Mentoring experience. In any area that I am engaged in I am totally focused on success.
