My name is Ellen Fincher.I’m 38 and the mother of a 20 month old daughter called Georgia.
I work part -time as a local government officer and am also in the process of setting up my own business. My partner,Paul, works as a printer.
To anyone considering a course of Life Coaching with Sam, I would say- DO IT! It’s an inspirational and supportive process which is at times very surprising.Life Coaching has made me think about my goals, focus on which ones are closest to my heart and encouraged me to take small steps towards achieving them.It has helped me decide what is important in my life and what can be put aside. At first I had to set aside time each week to think about what I had learnt, and also to do the tasks, but soon I fitted practising my new found skills into my busy daily life. Life Coaching gives you the opportunity to sit back and reflect on your skills and every day successes large and small.
Life Coaching asked me- what do I want to achieve? And has helped me see how much I’m actually achieving. It provided me with the skills to clarify and challenge my goals. Some of my goals were surprising, such as to spend more time in the park with my daughter, but the process helps you change the way you think.
On a practical level I have found the ’ BE,DO,HAVE’ lists and ‘Wheel of Life’ very powerful tools which have helped me focus and solve problems and decide choices in my life. Visualisation, written targets and pictures have helped give my ideas an emotional response. Life Coaching has also helped me in my job. I’ve recently done one-to-one interviews with two of my team members. This was the kind of thing I dreaded, but the interviews went very well and i used many of the skills i’ve learnt so far, such as goal settiing, small steps and positive language.
I’ve also applied for workplace courses in mind-mapping using positive language and leadership vs management. My self-confidence and self-esteem have improved, as has my relationship with my family.
My relationship with my partner Paul has see the biggest change. We have been getting on so much better and our communication is vastly improved.
My time-managemnt is better and I can easily clarify what I need to do in any situation.
I’ve also remembered things that I actually enjoy that have been put to one side since becoming a mother , such as a love of live music and the cinema- this has helped me feel more like me.
Life Coaching has been excellent for my personal development. I see it as an on-going process and I’m looking forward to using the new skills I’ve learned from Sam.
